PHASE 2 DAY 8
23 June 2023
Friday
Eighth day of my internship at St. Mary's HSS was filled
with a mix of teaching, assessment tasks, and additional responsibilities. It
was a day that highlighted the importance of time management and multitasking.
Free Periods and Preparation: The day began with three free periods, providing
me with an opportunity to plan and prepare for my upcoming class. I utilized
this time wisely, organizing my materials and reviewing the lesson for the third
hour. Conducting a Revision Test During the fourth hour, I conducted a revision
test for the students of 8L. With the presence of my subject teacher, July K
Jacob. I ensured a fair and conducive environment for the test. The students
actively participated, showcasing their understanding of the topics covered.
Additional Responsibilities. Towards the end of the fourth hour, I introduced
the plastids, sparking curiosity among the students. However, in the midst of
the class, my teacher assigned me an important task – correcting the students'
science diaries and evaluating their unit test papers. This responsibility
required my immediate attention and commitment. Correcting Answer Scripts and
Providing Feedback: The fifth and sixth hours were dedicated to correcting the
students' answer scripts, verifying their notes, and providing feedback. It was
a meticulous process that required attention to detail. As I reviewed their
work, I offered constructive remarks to guide them in their learning journey.
Once completed, I returned the evaluated papers to the students, encouraging
them to reflect on their performance. Participation in a Poster Making
Competition: While engaged in my tasks, the faculties of the upper primary
session approached me to select the best poster for a poster making competition
centered around the "Say No to Drugs" campaign. I carefully assessed the posters
and chose the one that conveyed the message effectively while showcasing
creativity and awareness. Evening Line Duty: As the week drew to a close, I
fulfilled my responsibility of managing the evening line duty. This duty
involved maintaining discipline and order at the school gates during the girls'
session. It was a rewarding experience, contributing to the overall welfare of
the school community. The eighth day at St. Mary's HSS was a busy and productive
one, characterized by teaching, assessment tasks, and additional
responsibilities. Balancing multiple tasks required effective time management
and organization skills. Through conducting a revision test, correcting answer
scripts, participating in a poster making competition, and teaching a chemistry
class, I experienced the joys and challenges of being an intern teacher. The
day's events reinforced the significance of dedication, adaptability, and a
passion for education. I look forward to further growth and learning as my
internship continues. Signing off Greeshma Gireesan
